How to Create and Present Professionally. Preparation STAGE:. Plan to organize and organize to plan. Decide on your topic. Study your topic and retrieve the most pertinent information you want to relay. Do your homework. Over educate yourself on the topic at hand .

Preparation STAGE: • Plan to organize and organize to plan. • Decide on your topic. Study your topic and retrieve the most pertinent information you want to relay. • Do your homework. Over educate yourself on the topic at hand. • Be sure there are no typographical errors in your presentation • Speak distinctly. Be comfortable in your subject of discussion. • Communicate the most important points of your presentation first whether through speech, Power Point, etc.
1. Composing Slides: • Do NOT copy & paste slides or text. • Keep the design very basic and simple. • Pick an easy to read font face. • Carefully select font sizes for headers and text. • Leave room for highlights (i.e. images or take home messages). • Decorate scarcely but well. • Restrict the room your design takes up and don’t ever let the design restrict your message.
2. Being Consistent: • Consistently use the same font face and sizes on all slides. • Match colors. • A poor choice of colors can shatter a presentation. • You may use your company logo, highlight headers, create a special frame for figures/images or the whole slide. • Do NOT overload your slides with these elements.
3. Use CONTRAST: • BORING but SAFE: Black text on a white background. • COLOURS: • Do keep it easy on the eyes and always keep good contrast in mind so that your readers do not have to strain to guess what is being typed on your slide.

4. K I S S: • Keep It Straight and Simple. • Keywords only– Not more than 7 words. • No LOOOOOONNGGGGG sentences! • Never read your slides, talk freely. • Remember , slides are only there to support, not to replace your talk

5. Add IMAGES: • Have more images in your slides than text. • But do not use images to decorate! • Images -> reinforce or complement your message. • Use images to visualize and explain. • A picture can say more than a thousand words.
6. Practice: • Well-prepared and enthusiastic - to convince your audience and maintain their attention. • Know your slides inside out. • Speak freely. • Speak with confidence – loud and clear. • Don’t speak too fast. • Maintain eye contact with the audience.
