Goal of training series • Build the capacity of IPV and HIV/AIDS counselors/advocates to: • Identify the risk for HIV and presence of IPV among women clients. • Integrate risk reduction and safety planning. • Link women to appropriate services.
Training modules • Module I - Introduces the training series. • Module II - Covers the link between violence and women’s increased risk for HIV. • Module III - Covers basic information about: • Part I: Intimate partner violence. • Part II: HIV/AIDS and HIV prevention. • Module IV - Covers client-centered approach to service delivery.
What participants will learn • Research demonstrating the link between IPV and HIV/AIDS. • Basic information on VAW, IPV, HIV/AIDS, and HIV prevention. • Current data about IPV. • Current data about HIV/AIDS. • Federal, state, and local IPV and HIV laws and guidelines. • How to identify HIV risk behaviors.
What participants will learn (cont’d) • How to identify IPV. • How to integrate risk reduction plan into safety planning. • Potential barriers to providing integrated violence and HIV/AIDS services. • How to develop shared resources and referrals. • What client-centered integrated IPV/HIV services looks like.
