To create an Equivalent • Regionally accredited institution in the US or limited international institutions • Use TES or contact JoAnn • Most domestic courses are in TES and we can use this digital version to create an equivalent for most courses • Limited number of people have rights in TES to create equivalents. Contact JoAnn.
International Credit • International Credit & Education Abroad Credit forms have merged • Check if Education Abroad Experience • Affects only the student named • We create equivalents only at international institutions where we have partner relationships
Credit from US Institutions • Use for Institutions that lack regional accreditation (art school, bible college) • Use for education abroad courses transcribed through a US institution (even if accredited) • Use for military training courses (other than CCAF) • Affects only the student named

Military Credit What is it and can we do with it?
My experience • Military Spouse 20 years • CCAF Adviser • DANTES/CLEP Test Examiner • Adjunct Faculty on Air Force/Army bases • Representative for a 2-year and a 4-year college at Altus Air Force Base • Family Support Center, RAF Alconbury, UK • Transition to UK and to civilian life
Change the Culture • Instead of • “It’s military credit. We only use that for free electives.” or “We exclude that.” • Let’s move to • “What makes sense to apply to this student’s degree?
Credit for Military Experience • 1 credit for every 3 months of active duty up to a total of 4 credits • Requires DD214 or Military Orders • NOT for Basic Training NOR PE credit • MAY be used to satisfy ACE 8 or ACE 9
ACE Credit for Military Experience • Transfer Coordinator • Verifies military experience • Adviser • Helps determine which outcome (8 or 9) • Student • Writes essay, “How I met the outcome.” • Student’s college • Has final approval
Types of Military Credit • Air University—SACS Accredited • Air War College -Graduate courses (officers) • Community College of the Air Force (enlisted) • Defense Language Institute—WACS Accredited • ROTC Courses –accredited through institution awarding credit • US Service Academies –regionally accredited
CCAF • Issues transcripts • Students can earn AAS degrees • Courses appear individually on CHP • Departments may be designated VCRD • College may apply courses even if VCRD • Student may be able to provide more details • Use your college substitution form
Defense Language Institute • May have a direct equivalent if UNL teaches the language • May be assigned MODL credit if we do not offer the language • Includes proficiency level
Joint Services Transcript • Credit appears as a block on the CHP • GNCR for now. Watch for change. • Transcript is available in ImageNow • Info and samples available
JST • Seal identifies branch of service • Chronological list of all training with objectives & occupations held • Lists each course and ACE credit recommendation, if any, including semester hours, level, vocational, etc. • Includes CLEP scores and transfer credit • Multipage document. Print Summary.
