The Beginning of Wisdom • (Proverbs 1:1-7) The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: That men may know wisdom and instruction, understand words of insight, receive instruction in wise dealing, righteousness, justice, and equity; that prudence may be given to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth-- the wise man also may hear and increase in learning, and the man of understanding acquire skill, to understand a proverb and a figure, the words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. (RSV)
Wisdom From Father To Son • (Proverbs 1:8-10) Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and reject not your mother's teaching; for they are a fair garland for your head, and pendants for your neck. My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. (RSV)
Gifts of Wisdom From Father to Son • You Have The Gift of Choice. • (Proverbs 1:10-15) My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. If they say, "Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood, let us wantonly ambush the innocent; like Sheol let us swallow them alive and whole, like those who go down to the Pit; we shall find all precious goods, we shall fill our houses with spoil; throw in your lot among us, we will all have one purse"-- my son, do not walk in the way with them, hold back your foot from their paths; (RSV) • (Joshua 24:15) And if you be unwilling to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Gifts of Wisdom From Father to Son • Gift of Moral Absolutes. • (Proverbs 1:16-19) For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood. Surely, in vain the net is spread In the sight of any bird; But they lie in wait for their own blood, They lurk secretly for their own lives. So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; It takes away the life of its owners. (NKJV)

What Must I Do To Be Saved? • You must believe and have faith in God and His Word. (Heb. 11:6; Mark 16:15,16;Romans 10:17) • You must repent of your sins. (Acts 17:30; Acts 2:38) • You must confess that Jesus is the Lord, the Son of God. (Romans 10:9,10; Acts 8:37) • You must be immersed for the remission of your sins. (Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16) • You must live faithfully to Christ the rest of your life. (Rev. 2:10)
