4. 29/07/2012 Dr M Kiely 4 Adequacy of Nutrient Intakes In a population, adequacy of vitamin and mineral intakes is measured by comparing average intakes with average requirements (AR).
The AR is the nutrient intake value that is estimated to meet the requirement of 50% of a life-stage and gender subgroup.
The prevalence of inadequate intakes is the % of the group whose average intake is below the Average Requirement.
