10. London is the capital city of Great Britain, its political, economic and cultural centre. It is one of the largest cities of the world. Its population is more than 9 million people. London is situated on the river Thames. The city is very old and beautiful. It was founded more than 2000 years ago. London has lots of places of interest. One of them is the Houses of Parliament, the seat of the British Government. There one can see a famous Clock Tower Big Ben, the symbol of London. Big Ben is really the bell which strikes every quarter of an hour. Buckingham Palace is the residence of the Queen. There are many other places of interest in London: Trafalgar Square, Regent’s Park, Westminster Abbey and of course, the British Museum.

22. 3. LONDON’S SIGHTSEEINGLet’s start our guided tour Today we’re going to visit London. We are using London’s Tourist Agency “Evan Evans Tour”. I’m going to be your guide. Let’s sit in our comfortable bus and start our excursion!

23. The River Thames Welcome to London and welcome to this red and white bus tour! On the right you can see the river Thames.

24. Westminster Abbey Now on the left you can see a very big church. This church is called Westminster Abbey. It’s the church where the kings and queens of England marry. It was built between 1840 and 1850.

25. Big Ben Now look right and you can see a big clock. It’s Big Ben. It’s famous in England and all around the world. Big Ben is the name of the bell in the Clock Tower a part of the House of Parliament. The bell is very heavy. It weighs 13.5 tons

26. Tower of London It’s Tower of London. At first it was a fortress, a prison and a palace. Now it’s a museum, which always presents its exhibits on displays!

27. The Tower Bridge Now, let’s come closer to the Tower Bridge, which is near the Tower of London. It was opened in 1894.

28. Piccadilly Circus Now we’re in Piccadilly Circus. Piccadilly Circus is the centre of London. It is a famous London landmark and meeting place. Here you can see the bronze fountain and the famous statue of Eros.

29. The London Eye Now we’re near the London Eye. It is a new landmark. It’s taller than Big Ben! If you are in the capsule, you can see 25 miles in each direction. You will see the world’s most famous sights.

30. Our bus stops here. Thank you for coming on this tour of London. Tomorrow we are going to see the lungs of London- beautiful parks.

Hyde park is the most democratic park in the world, as anyone can say anything he likes there. Regent’s park is the home of London zoo.
