Pre-Colonial UnitTest Review Important Stuff to Know
Part 1: VOCABULARY • Just like our quizzes, you will have to provide definitions, parts of speech, or the word itself. • It will be fill in the blank. • You will have to write original sentences for five of the words. These sentences must use the word correctly: verbs must be verbs, adjectives must be adjectives.
Part 1: VOCABULARY • Words will come from: • The Words of the Day • The stories we have read • class discussions (aka: stuff on the board)
Part 2: HISTORY There will be questions covering: • Native-American Literature • Native American spirituality • First encounters between explorers and Natives • This will all come from your notes.
Part 3: LITERATURE There will be questions covering: • The World on the Turtle’s Back • Coyote and the Buffalo • Fox and Coyote and Whale • la Relacion • Of Plymouth Plantation These questions will be in a variety of formats, including: T/F, Multiple Choice, Matching, Short Answer, and Essay
Part 4: KEY TRAIN There will be four short answer questions covering test strategies: • Reading Questions First • Skimming and Scanning • Reading for Details • Reading Procedures You will have to explain, in detail, facts about how, when, or why you would use each of these techniques.
Part 5: ESSAY The final question on the test will be an essay question. You will be asked about the qualities of the Romantic American Hero and asked to apply them to a character to be named on the test. This character will be drawn from one of the stories we have read.
