Learning Outcomes At the end of this course, you should be able to: • define an information system from business perspectives • explain the impact of IT/IS to our everyday lives • describe the role of IT/IS in common business environments • identify business processes and ways how IT/IS can be used to improve business processes • describe the types of Information Systems • describe the activities and issues involved in managing IS project development • discuss roles of managers in terms of businesses, their personnel and IT in order to make effective decisions

Assignment Overview You are to complete two pieces of course work which contributes to 30 % of the module overall marks. You need to work in a team of five members for the tasks.
What is expected of you 2 In addressing the current industry needs for job ready graduates, it is imperative that teaching and learning approaches offered at schools today facilitates the development of 21st century skills. Researchers refer to 21st century skills as certain core competencies students should be able to demonstrate in order to survive today’s job market. Among the skills identified are knowledge building, digital literacy, problem-solving and innovation, self regulation, collaboration and skilled communication. (Trilling and Fadel, 2009; Cloud, 2010; Rotherham and Willingham, 2010). In addition to strong technical skills, employers are demanding for sound interpersonal skills in graduates (Kasim and Ali, 2010; Chang, 2004) Chang, M (2004). What is expected of you Behavioral Code • Punctuality • Electrical devices/Mobile phones – do not disrupt the lesson • Adherence to UNITEN rules & regulations • Timely submission of assignments / projects / homework • Supporting document for being absent • DO NOT conveniently get sick during important dates like mid term, final exam and presentation. Unless for a very-very strong reason such as being hospitalized, NO chance for a retake will be given.
