Richard, richard@tamu.edu • Application Details • To participate in the program, students must: • Have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA; • Major in engineering or related math or science (e.g., physics, chemistry, etc.) with an interest in materials-related research; • Complete sophomore year (at least 60 hours) by Spring 2011; • Plan to graduate after December 2011; and • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. • For application questions, please contact: • Kristi Shryock 3141 TAMU, 750 HRBB, College Station, TX 77843-3141, kristis@tamu.edu Fax: 979-845-6051 • Application Deadline: February 28, 2011 by 5:00 pm CST • Program Participants Notified: March, 31, 2011 • Program Dates: May 31 - August 8, 2011 • Financial Support • Each participant will receive a stipend of $5,000 for the 10-week program. • Program covers on-campus & limited off-campus housing expenses & travel to town for those out of state. • Research • On multifunctional materials across multiple disciplines with application for a variety of engineering systems Research Highlights Modeling Uninhabited Aerial Vehicles, Helicopter blades, etc Modeling wing structure using finite element analysis with experimental verification. Research Highlights Fluid-structure Co-simulation of Convection for Shape Memory Alloy Applications Program Highlights Site Visits: Tour NASA Johnson Space Center’s Multi-Functional Nano-Materials Labs; campus facility tours; and Materials andCharacterization Facility.
