Biodiversity 2 AssignmentTHE OCEAN By Sara Persson
Why Did I Choose the Ocean? • I chose to make my presentation about the ocean, because I find it fascinating how things work underwater.
How Do Greenhouse Gases Affect the Ocean? • Greenhouse gases cause ocean water, more specifically in Antarctica, to become more and more acidic. • The acidic reaction is due to the amounts of carbon dioxide that are produced by burning fossil fuels, oil, coal, etc.
How does Global Warming Affect the Ocean? • Global warming harms the seas in many ways. • Global warming causes sea levels to rise, which ends out covering little islands, which becomes a huge problem for whatever life (including humans) lived on the islands. • Another thing is that the water is getting warmer, which is harming, and even killing algae in the ocean.
How Does Acid Rain Affect the Ocean? • Acid rain highly increases threat to sea animals. • Acid rain affects the ocean more than any other part of the planet.
How Does the Depletion of the Ozone Layer Effect the Ocean? • If the Ozone layer depletes, then ultra violet rays will reach the surface of Earth. • This radiation can harm marine life.
Mutualism in the Ocean • One of many examples of Mutualism in the ocean would be Clownfish and Sea Anemones. • The clownfish eats algae off of the anemone, giving it better water circulation.
Predator-Prey • A good example of a predator-prey relationship in the ocean would be whales and krill. • Krill are small fish that is usual in a whale’s diet.
Commensalism • A general example for commensalism in the ocean would be a fish camouflaging itself to blend in with coral. • The fish would gain a benefit, but it doesn’t take any effect on the coral.
