What they eat • The Maned wolf is a omnivore, which means he eats on a variety of foods. From a farmers chicken to fruits to dead animals. They eat there live prey by pouncing on it just like a fox.
How it became endangered The Maned wolf entered the endangered list due to humans hunting them and habitat lost. They are hunted for two main reasons the first is that the are wanted for the medicine that can be obtained from there body parts and second from the sport of hunting.
Relationships Cons • the ManedWolfis known for stealing farmers chickens • Shares diseases with domestic dogs like the giant kidney worm and fatal parasites Pros • The maned wolf caries seeds and drops them to be replanted • Ants use the animal’s feces to fertilize there funguse gardens which help increase the amount of seeds • Has little threat to people
How to save them. The national zoo is working to protect the manned wolf by protecting there habitat. They also breed them so they reproduce. Some countries like Brazil have laws to protect the Maned wolf as another way to save them. In my opinion this is the perfect way to save them. If they are protected they will no longer be hunted, and they will mate and reproduce.
