Brief Biography • Born December 10, 1830 in Amherst Massachusetts. • Well-behaved, proper, intelligent, and shy. • She went to the Academy and took numerous classes, specifically in English and Literature. • Always had an existing fear of death, stayed secluded in her room. • People didn’t appreciate the uniqueness of her writing til after her death. • She died on May 15, 1886, at 55.

Richard Howard- "... there was only one event, herself." Criticism Of Her Work It seems as if the feedback varied, positive in terms of emotions, negative in terms of her themes or lack there of.
