Student Introduction • My name is Ryan. • I am 8 years old. • I am in 2nd grade. • I go to Neil Armstrong.
Being told “No” • Sometimes when I ask my teachers to do something they say, “No”. • I get really upset and mad when I am told “no”.
Accepting “No” • I need to know that my teacher only says “No” because: • I may need to finish my work • What I want may not be available • It is just not the right time
Say, “Okay” • I need to remember to always say, “Okay” and not get mad. • Other phrases I can say are: • That’s alright • That’s fine • Roger
Stay Calm • If I stay calm and don’t get mad when I am told “no”, then my teacher will be very happy. • She may let me do something I want to do later.
Choosing Alternatives • If I stay calm and don’t get mad my teacher will let me choose something else to do that I enjoy. CHOICE MENU

Remember “Maybe Later” • When I am told “No” it does not mean I will never get to do what I want. I just can not do it right when I ask. • MAYBE LATER
