  1. ASPERA and APPEC ROADMAP ASPERA comprises 16 european funding agencies + CERN and ESA as associated member. It will contribute to improve coherence and co-ordination between european funding Agencies having astroparticle program. APPEC is in charge to produce a roadmap for astroparticle and ASPERA will help to resolve funding issues collectively and to help to install management structure. From a preliminary census of 66 project, APPEC elaborated a first draft for the roadmap.for the 2008 – 2018 period

  2. Valencia workshop 6/7 November 2006: Public presentation of the proposal and first discussion by 7 thematic groups: • i.Dark matter: conveners: N. Smith, G. Gerbier • ii.Double beta: conveners: F. Piquemal , A. Giuliani, S. Schonert • iii.High energy neutrino: conveners: U. Katz, P. Lipari • iv.High energy cosmic rays: convener: R.Engel • v.Gamma rays : convener: M. Martinez • vi.Low energy neutrino and proton decay: convener: A. Rubbia • Gravitational vii. Gravitational waves: convener: H. Lueck • The parallel working groups in Valencia had the following tasks: • i.Prepare the first comments to the proposal • ii.Organize the collection of further comments till the end of the year • iii.Eventually enlarge the convener group • iv.Draft the organisation of the next year of discussions with the corresponding community • v.Discuss the implementation of the logistic part on timetables, phasing, resource projection, ..

  3. Comments on the roadmap up to mid-december  • Deliverable: Phase I Roadmap January 2007 • Phase II: Discussion of the proposal by the scientific community • Methodology • Work in 7 parrallel thematic working groups • Internal meetings of the 7 working groups (November 2006-April 2007) • Final thematic mini-workshops, with the participation of the PRC to examine, uniformize the criteria of the 7 thematic propositions (May 2007-July 2007) • The thematic propositions must contain beyond what is present in phase I: • Detailed calendar (phasing, milestones, review points) • Detailed multi-annual projection of budget and human resources • Detailed exposition of enabling R&D • Maximal possible prioritization within the thematic. • ASPERA will provide the following tools for the above implementation : • Database and project management tools • Collaborative spaces of work • Final synthesis in workshop II: Amsterdam September 2007 • Post workshop comments till -December 2007 • Deliverable: Phase II Detailed Roadmap January 2008

  4. Phase III: Inter-thematic prioritisation • Methodology • Selected hearings by the PRC of experts on thematic groups, e.g.: • High energy cosmic rays (gamma, neutrino telescopes, charged cosmic rays) • Gravitational waves • Underground physics (neutrino mass and properties, proton decay, dark matter) • A few day final workshop with attendance to be defined in coordination with funding agencies • Deliverables July 2008 • ·Roadmap with selected priorities (action plan) • ·Definition of areas where common R&D calls can be launched • Preparation of agreements for next phase large infrastructures For Double beta decay 50-100 M€ for 2 experiments ?
