ILEAP’s work on trade in services • Advisory support • Backstopping advice and counsel; Analytical support for informed decision-making (policy analysis, position papers, regulatory studies); Consensus-building workshops • Examples • Backstopping ECOWAS EPA services Technical Working Group + undertaking various studies (focus towards intra-regional…) • Supporting LDC Group @ WTO (negotiations on TF + services [esp. LDC Services Waiver] • Supporting CEMAC in EPA services preparations (request, offer, legal text, advice on Mplan, etc.) • Working with private sector … support engagement on negotiations/policy + to support formation of ‘service coalitions’ (EAC, Uganda, Burundi, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Congo)

ILEAP’s work on trade in services • Knowledge creation and dissemination • Forward-looking research • Knowledge bank services (publications, website, communications) • Examples: • Various background studies: services trade & RI in SSA; background and guide on service coalitions; study on use of economic needs tests; role of services in diagnostic studies; use of MFN in EPA services, etc. • New website launching this month (serve as more accessible knowledge resource) • Proactive communications outreach
