Best Evaluation Practices for the Overworked and Understaffed NSDL All Projects Meeting Birds of a Feather Tues., October 14, 2003, 4-5 p.m.
Best Evaluation Practices for the Overworked and Understaffed • Get evaluator on board from the beginning • Communicate—do your best to create a team with “oars pulling together” • Be open to new ideas that occur throughout your formative evaluation process; just be sure they are compatible with your mission • Streamline; constantly think how to use your resources in a more efficient way
Delegate: offer everyone an “opportunity,” but do not overwhelm anyone • Prepare carefully but don’t “overknead” your evaluation plan • Optimize every possible opportunity • “Beg, borrow, and steal” … and then pass the information/ideas on • Never assume that you know your user; use formative evaluation to refine your knowledge constantly
