Student Quote – Adam R Edmodo is extremely beneficial to my learning experience in several ways. The fact that I can check my homework or other assignments wherever there is internet access is both beneficial and helpful to me in my class, because there is a much smaller chance of me forgetting something when I am reminded that something may be due soon. It has helped me in studying as well. My classmates and I can easily communicate if a good study resource is found.
Parent Quote I love that my child is using Edmodo in his science class and wish he could use it in all of his classes. Aside from keeping him technologically savvy, Edmodo keeps us in the know about his classwork, homework and upcoming quizzes, tests and projects. I know what they are learning at all times so it makes conversation around the dinner table a little more interesting than the usual "nothing" response we get to what he learned that day. :) When my son missed school for a week with the flu he was able to keep up with his science work from his iPad in the comfort of his own bed. That made getting back into the swing of things the following week so much easier! It took a week and a half to catch up in all his other classes! Our family is a big fan of Edmodo and we are all looking forward to using it more in the future.

Students will need the Group Code off the right side of your screen. Give them this group code and then they need to go through the setup that you did but as “I’m a Student”. They do not need to put in an email. Once they create their username and then click create, Edmodo will populate your class for you. I would make a dummy student account just so you can see what it is like to put a student in and what their screen looks like for their view. How to get students signed up for your class?
Click on Join in your left column. You will see a Join Group box (like the one below). Enter the code ix0cz3 Join My Edmodo KySTE Class Now…
Parent Quote Edmodo should be used by more teachers because: • As the world becomes increasingly technologically advanced, today’s kids need to be exposed to technology-based learning. • The “virtual classroom” allows the students more flexibility to remotely submit assignments at times other than class time. • The students really like it and will likely pay more attention, leading to more efficient learning. • As a parent, I can easily see what is done each day in class, what assignments are due, and the grades for assignments. • Students have more opportunity to communicate with teacher and ask questions via Edmodo. I think that technology has come such a long way in the years since my children started school. I have been so impressed this year with the introduction of the Emodo program at my son’s middle school. It has been a wonderful addition to the classroom instruction. A few examples of how it has helped us out are as follows. My son is on the BMS Archery Team & went to the NASP World Tournament in Orlando, FL in October. He was able to do his work & not get behind while we were gone for 5 days. Also, he ended up having strep throat & was home sick for 2 days. He was able to take the pretest quiz & even the test under my supervision at home and therefore not get behind. What a great way to keep the connection between school & home. It has been helpful for when my child has had to miss school to keep up, but it has also been a fun & creative way to keep the students interested in learning. Thanks Mr. Goff for being willing to try it out! Heidi Sunny Parent Quote
You can see the title, who sent it, who you sent it too, how many turned it in, due date, directions, and the file. On the bottom, you could click on the bar chart to see how many have viewed it or the little magnifier to just preview the assignment. What an assignment will look like on the main screen…
How to create a Quiz!! Click on the Quiz button by the blue word blurb with a question mark. Click on Create a quiz – if you are making a new quiz Click on Load a previously created quiz if you have one saved
Click on Add First Question Use the drop down to determine the type of question You can add more than two answer options for Multiple Choice and then select the correct right answer. I would click on Randomize questions and uncheck the show results if it is a test for a grade. If it is a study guide option, then click on show results. Then the students will know what the right answer is when they click an answer.
This is what the screen looks like when you are adding a question. You can print out a hard copy if you need. In the upper portion, you can title the quiz if you want and put a timer on it.
Quiz Options • You can randomize the questions. • You can lock it so when they are done, they can not go back and change it. • You can set it to not show any scores until you decide to show the scores. • Students can take the quiz from a tablet. • Students can take the quiz from outside of school. (I always made a parent sign a note that they supervised them during the test) • It will grade MC and T/F for you!! • It gives you an item analysis instantly over the questions it grades.
This is what the item analysis screen will look like. You get to this one of two ways. You can click on the Turn In option under where you assigned the quiz or you can click on the quiz in your gradebook, and then view assignment. Green means good, Red means not so good. As you can see, there is something wrong with question #7! Also, you can see the students nailed question #14. On the left side you will see all of your students and their scores.
Click on Poll. Click on Question in the white box. Type your poll question. Add however many options you want. Select the class/es you want to take the poll. Click Send How to create a Poll Question.
This is what a poll in progress will look like as the kids are taking it.

Click on Members Click on Small Group Now, click on New Small Group Title your small group. Small Group option
Now click on the name of your small group. Then you will see a complete list of your students in that class. Click and drag the students from the right column to the small group.
Now you can delete or keep adding members to this small group. When you are ready, click on Back to Small Groups. It will automatically invite the students into that group, no code necessary.
Emodo affords the student the ability to stay connected with school regardless of their location. If they are at home sick or in another state participating in a sporting event, the student can log on to Edmodo to obtain complete an assignment. It also allows the student to take more control over organizing their free time. Traditionally students needed as desk and a book in order to complete their work. With Edmodo all they need is WiFi and a laptop and the world is their desk and book. As well, parents are also able to log on and see what is being assigned, what progress is being made and when it is due. It allows more freedom and personal time management for the student with the option of parental supervision. Terri Newcombe Parent Quote
