Chapter 3 Lesson 1 • Thousands of early people lived near or around Moundville in what is now Alabama. • Early people in the Paleo-Indian period hunted large animals and gathered plants to eat. • During the Mississippian period, early people built mounds. • Woodland Indians were the first people in AL who planted and grew crops.
