When to take SAT Tests • SAT Reasoning - end of your junior year and/or fall of your senior year. • SAT Subject – take, if you plan to attend a University of California. You can’t take SAT Subject Tests on the same day that you take the SAT Reasoning.
SAT or ACT ??? • SAT Reasoning has three sections—Reading, Math, and Essay. • ACT has five sections-- English, Math, Reading, Science, and an optional Writing test. • Either choice, plan to spend about 5 hours on a Saturday morning to take the tests.

ACT • Register for the ACT at www.actstudent.org • You will need a copy of your transcript when you are registering so you can fill in all of the classes and grades you have completed during high school. • Choose which colleges to receive your score reports when you register.
Fee Waivers • Fee waivers are available for ACT and for SAT if you are on Free & Reduced Lunch Program at DHSHS. • You will also need your counselor’s authorization. • If you register with a Fee Waiver, and do not show up to take the test, you will be expected to repay $47 for the waiver.
