Parts of a Wave Yarn Activity • Fold your paper in half like a hot dog bun. • Draw a line along the fold label this line rest position. • Use your yarn to make a wave with at least one crest above rest position and one trough below rest position. • Trace the pattern of the yarn. • Take the yarn off the paper and set aside for later. • Label the following parts of a wave on your yarn wave: Crest, trough, rest position, amplitude, and wavelength. Write the definitions to these parts on the back of the paper. • Then create a picture with your yarn wave. The most creative gets extra credit! • Finally tape your yarn to your paper along the line you traced earlier. (YOU ONLY NEED A LITTLE BIT OF TAPE!!)
