Dielectron Spectrum Analysis J. Leonard 19 August 2009
Today: Action Items • Move to DY analysis • Show us plots with all significant backgrounds and full summer 08 samples • Now using only Summer08 samples, full set of backgrounds • Start looking at electron selection variables when samples and normalization under control • In progress: ntuples made • Figure out event weighting • Done • Require trigger for samples • If you are using 2 series use single electron trigger • Trigger information in ntuple for HLT_Ele10_LW_L1R (8e29 physics path) • Optimize analysis and make plots for 10pb-1 • Scaling changed for 10 pb-1 • The Efficiency for Upsilons and particle gun is quite different. • Compare efficiency of official Upsilon and particle gun samples • Make presentation of this work in the trigger meeting.
Monte Carlo Samples • Signal • /Zee_M20/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v1/AODSIM • Background • /Ztautau_M20/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v1/AODSIM • /QCD_EMenriched_Pt20to30/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v2/GEN-SIM-RECO • /QCD_EMenriched_Pt30to80/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v2/GEN-SIM-RECO • /QCD_EMenriched_Pt80to170/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v1/GEN-SIM-RECO • /QCD_BCtoE_Pt20to30/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v1/AODSIM • /QCD_BCtoE_Pt30to80/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v1/AODSIM • /QCD_BCtoE_Pt80to170/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v1/AODSIM • /Wenu/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v2/AODSIM • /Wtaunu/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v2/AOSIM • /TauolaTTbar/Summer08_IDEAL_V11_redigi_v2/GEN-SIM-RECO
Scale Factor Calculation • Formula used • Scale factor = (Lumi * xsec * filter eff) / nEvents • Numbers used • Luminosity = 10 pb-1 • Cross sections and filter efficiencies come directly from production twiki page (ProductionSummer2008) • Haven’t made complete sense of all the numbers yet (e.g. does xsec/filter eff. always have BR factored in?), investigating further • Number of events comes from dataset’s DBS entry • Some files were missing at Wisconsin, so statistics artificially low • Due to /pnfs outage in June • For most datasets, not a big problem • Wenu and Wtaunu each lost ~20% of events • Some files recovered by now; rerunning over recovered files
Invariant Mass • Scaled to 10 pb-1 • Requirements: 2 PAT electrons > 5. GeV • No additional trigger or other requirements for this plot
Next Steps • Include trigger bit requirement in plots • Work on electron selection variables • Using patEwkAnalyzer from Christos (my current code only produces histogram) • Gen-level, RECO, PAT, trigger information • Already run over all samples • Work with ntuples in progress • Make plots of kinematic variables following Monika Jindal’s talk from EWK-muon meeting • Electron pT, , , isolation, acoplanarity, etc.
