From the early chapters of Genesis the church is convinced that work is a fundamental dimension of man’s existence on earth. Work is a good thing for man not only because through work he transforms nature to serve his needs, but because through it he also achieves fulfilment as a human being, and indeed in a sense becomes more of a human being.’ • Scope ‘ A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This, I see, is from the hand of God’ Ecclesiastes 2:24
