From the secretary… • In order to be an active member of SOTA, one must earn at least 5 points this semester. • There are four categories of points: service, meetings, social, and fundraising. • To be active, you need to participate in 3 at least 3 categories, one of them being service, since we are a service club! • Also, it is mandatory for active members to participate in our main service event.

Balance180:Special Olympics • 1st Special Olympics Young Athletes Program (YAP) in Alachua County: innovative & adaptive sports program for children with intellectual disabilities and their peers, ages 2-7. • Must commit to MINIMUM of 5 days. • Meet on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & occasional Saturday. • 5:15-6:30pm; arrive 15 minutes early! • Jan 29th – April 7th (culminating event on the 7th)
Balance180: Special Olympics (Training) • Tuesday, January 22 and Thursday, January 24 from 5:30-7:00 pm (Tonight and this Thursday!) • previous volunteers drop in to one of the meetings from 6:30-7:00 pm and hand in your paperwork • Location: Santa Fe Center for Innovation and Economic Development (CIED) • 530 West University Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601 • Check Facebook for: • Balance180 Gym (pictures, updates) • Balance180 Gym Volunteers (specific info for volunteers)
Hand Camp: Hands to Love www.handstolove.org • Camp for kids with upper limb differences and their families. As a volunteer you would be paired with a family and assist the child throughout the weekend doing various activities. • Save the date! March 15-17 • More info on volunteer applications to be released soon!

BIG Service Event: Kickball Tournament • When: Saturday, April 6 • Where: Forest Park (located on SW 20th near Canopy/Cabana Beach/Woodlands apartments) • Specifics: $$/team or $$/person, 7-12 persons per team • Registration includes a colored team t-shirt • Your role: Your participation is necessary to remain an active member. If you have a valid reason for not being able to attend please talk to or email Kara.
BIG Service Event: Your Role (please watch for sign-up sheets going around) • Sheet 1: Have you ever refereed a sport before? Would you be interested in helping referee games? • Sheet 2: Are you involved in another organization, club, etc. that would like to put together a team? We can send an email with forms for you to share with them. • Sheet 3: Would your work place or another organization be interested in donating raffle prizes, food, tournament prizes, or monetary donation? • If you own kickballsor bases please let an officer know!

Fundraising Scavenger Hunt! • Meet at La Nopalera located by 34th/Archer (across from Kohl’s and next to Red Mango) at 10am, Friday 25th or 1st?? • We will be splitting up into teams assigned to different parts of Gainesville to reach out to businesses. • Meet back at La Nop for lunch afterwards. • Sign-up sheet going around and look for FB event.
