Challenges for Marin Transit/ Golden Gate Transit • Escalating cost of service delivery • Specialty services for Seniors/ expansion of paratransit-type service • Senior Mobility Management • Unique system of bus pad facilities on Highway 101- need for upgrades in access • PDA requirements for frequent bus service cannot be accomplished with steadily decreasing operating revenues • Station Area Planning around SMART station sites ongoing • Recreational trip transit options are scarce

Highways and Local Roads • As a pass-thru county for travel trips, widening Hwy 101 remains challenging given high cost of highway projects and low levels of formulaic funding • Complex funding plans demand reliable sources • Local street and road rehab is complex- need to address multiple users- Complete Streets • Over $500 million in unfunded LSR rehab need not in RTP • Flexibility in design • Limited rights of way • Keep cost at attainable level

Multi-Modal approach to meeting needs • Non-motorized Transportation Pilot Program- continued • Safe Routes to School- flexibility is key • SB 375- Sustainable Community Strategy, SCS- County contribution should be unique, what we can’t do in land use densities, we can contribute in unique transportation solutions • Reduce overall congestion, not just Highway 101 • Fund sources must be flexible to respond to different needs • MTC block grant
