L3VPN WGIETF 7722/03/2010 09:00-11:30 Chairs: Marshall Eubanks Danny McPherson Ben Niven-Jenkins
Agenda • WG Status Web Page: http://tools.ietf.org/wg/l3vpn/ • Administrivia (5 minutes) • Blue sheets • Scribe/jabber • Jabber room: l3vpn@jabber.ietf.org • WG Status, Update (20 minutes) • Using mLDP through a Backbone where there is no Route to the Root: Eric Rosen (15 minutes) • http://www.ietf.org/id/draft-wijnands-mpls-mldp-recurs-fec-00.txt • Multicast VPN fast upstream failover: Thomas Morin (10 minutes) • http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-morin-l3vpn-mvpn-fast-failover-04.txt • OSPFv3 as a PE-CE routing protocol: EmreErtekin (10 minutes) • http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-l3vpn-ospfv3-pece-05.txt • Support for RSVP-TE in L3VPNs: Chikara Sasaki (10 minutes) • http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-kumaki-murai-ccamp-rsvp-te-l3vpn-02.txt • New WG items & charter discussion: Chairs/all (60 minutes) • Multicast in MPLS/BGP IP VPNs: Eric Rosen (20 minutes) • http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-rosen-vpn-mcast-13.txt
WG Status • WG Documents • RFC Editor Queue • draft-ietf-l3vpn-2547bis-mcast-bgp-08 • draft-ietf-l3vpn-2547bis-mcast-10 • draft-ietf-l3vpn-e2e-rsvp-te-reqts-05 • draft-ietf-l3vpn-mvpn-considerations-06 • Active • draft-ietf-l3vpn-ospfv3-pece-05
Re-Chartering • WG has completed work against all existing Milestones • Need to define some new ones? • Or close WG? • Quite a few individual drafts • draft-kumaki-murai-ccamp-rsvp-te-l3vpn • draft-kumaki-murai-pce-pcep-extension-l3vpn • draft-marques-l3vpn-ibgp • draft-morin-l3vpn-mvpn-fast-failover • draft-raggarwa-l3vpn-bgp-mvpn-extranet • draft-rosen-l3vpn-mvpn-bidir • draft-rosen-l3vpn-mvpn-extranet • draft-rosen-l3vpn-mvpn-mspmsi • draft-rosen-l3vpn-mvpn-spmsi-joins • draft-rosen-l3vpn-mvpn-wildcards
Do we need to re-charter at all?? • Existing Charter covers: • IPv4, IPv6 & Multicast for: • BGP/MPLS IP VPNs • IP VPNs using Virtual Routers • CE-based VPNs using IPsec • Deployment Scenarios: • Single SP, Single/Multiple ASs, Multiple SPs, Internet VPNs • Work items: • Requirements, Solutions, MIBs, Security mechanisms • Explicitly excluded topics: • QoS & OAM
Discussion Points • Virtual Router & CE related drafts have been withdrawn • Probably should remove from charter • Existing charter is pretty generic • E.g. Re: MVPN current charter basically says “Work on Multicast VPN” • Would it be useful to have a more focussed charter? • E.g. Call out some more specific MVPN related topics? • BiDir? Extranet? • What new Milestones would we like to work towards? • BiDir? Extranet? Resiliency? PCE? OAM???
