THE MAIN ISSUES • Planning of energy needs, • Statistics in the energy sector • Annual energy balance • Promotion of renewable energy sources use • Energy efficiency use
Energy demand database, Energy Supply database, Transformation Process ENERGY STATISTICS
KToe Energy demands • Industry • Residential • Transport • Service • Agriculture Energy supply • HPP • TPP • Technologies of Renewable Sources
ENERGY BALANCE Production Import Export Stock Industry Residential Service Transport Agriculture Transformation System Transformation Energetic sources Energetic consumption
RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES Favors conditions for renewable energyuse: • Hydro energy • Solar energy • Wind energy • Biomass • Geothermal energy SOLAR ENERGY • Solar Energy use for domestic hot water Albania Potential approximately: 240-260 sunny days/year. • The solar radiation is from 1200to 1600 kWh/m2/year.
Average daily solar radiation Territory distribution of annually sunny hours
WIND ENERGY • It is a possibility to produce electricity. The many years absence of measurements for the speed and the duration of wind is a study object. • There are identified some attractive areas in our country: Shkodër (Velipojë), Lezhë (Ishull Shëngjin, Tale, Balldre), Durrës (Ishëm, Porto Romano), Fier (Karavasta, Hoxhara 1, Hoxhara 2), Vlorë (Akerni), Tepelenë, Sarandë.

BIOMASS For Biomass we can use: • Wood and bush • Agriculture Residue • Livestock Residue • Urban Residue Wood can be used for heat demand especially in the rural areas. Actually, they can contribute with 256 Ktoe. GEOTHERMAL ENERGY Geothermal sources with high potential in our country are: • Geothermal area of Kruja • Geothermal area of Ardenica • Geothermal area of Peshkopia Geothermal sources in our country are estimated with low thermal potential (max. temp. 20-33°C).
Heat flow density mW/m2 Temperature at depth of 100 m
LEGAL FRAMEWORK • Law on Power Sector (amended), Law on Energy Saving in Buildings, Energy Efficiency Law, • Law on the Privatisation of Local Hydropower Plants, • Law on the Privatisation Strategy of Primary Importance Sectors, • Concession Law, • Is under process the draft of Renewable Energy Law.
