Goal • Objectives and activities to realise this goal • Establishment of the CALL within the precincts of the Merensky Library. • To build leadership expertise within the public and academic LIS sectors – further development opportunities & relevant skills based training Address the leadership development needs of current and future middle and senior managers of academic, public/community and national library services LIASA-CICD Winter Seminar
Goal Address the leadership development needs of current and future middle and senior managers of academic, public/community and national library services • Objectives and activities to realise this goal (contd) • 6 x 2-week Leadership Academies (120) • 20 participants per academy • Curriculum to be designed in collaboration with the library schools at UP, UKZN and UCT • Current best practices in library management, advocacy and communication skills, change management, refining of IT skills, mentorship, etc. • 3 x 1-week Train-the-Trainer workshop (30) • 10 participants per workshop LIASA-CICD Winter Seminar

Progress • 1st Carnegie Library Leadership Academy, 05-17 July 2009, Leriba Lodge, Centurion. • 20 participants – academic, public/community libraries • Institutions represented • Programme – theoretical and practical components; various formats of teaching & learning; visits and speaker sessions.
