  6. Once upon a time... there was a class that needed the following items to help their learning. • Magazines.. Ranger Rick, My Big Backyard, SI for Kids, Zoobooks, etc. • Waterless hand sanitizer • Flat top Clipboards • Dry erase board erasers • Envelopes • Colored paper • Ziploc Baggies- quart and gallon sizes • Plastic Spoons • Any shaped post-it notes • Extra snacks (Goldfish, pretzels, etc) • Medium sized Dixie cups And because of your generous donations, the class lived (and learned)... Happily Ever After!

  7. Homework! • Weekly newsletter– assigned homework nights • Daily reading (weekly log) – goal is to build stamina • Math - fact practice • Spelling (practice book) • “Poetry Pages” & Travel Journal • Don’t forget your name!!!

Writing • Conventional spelling – high frequency words, strategy and resource use, tests • Phonetic spelling (invented spelling) • Handwriting – review manuscript, introduce cursive in November • Paragraph writing – unified topic, topic sentence, detail sentences, concluding sentence • Writer’s Workshop – build stamina and independence • Travel Journal on Fridays • Pen Pals in Kansas
