Core Competences of the Careercounselor Professionalism is the core competence of CGC professionals to adopt professional values and ethical standards in all roles of their practice, to develop and to regulate relationships appropriately, to engage in continuous learning and critical thinking, and to advocate for their profession. Career Information & Assessment is the core competence of CGC professionals to support people in assessing their personal characteristics and needs and connecting them with information on opportunities and requirements in labour markets (employability) and education systems. Career Information & Assessment Career Counselling Career Education Career Education is the core competence of CGC professionals to teach and train people to develop the career management skills they need for managing education, training and career transitions. E.g. to support client´s self-knowledge, occupational knowledge, information and decision making skills, metacognitions (feeling, thinking, acting). Career Counselling is the core competence of CGC professionals to support their clients in understanding their situations, in working towards solutions and in making decisions through the use of ideographic and reflective methods. Professionalism Programme & Service Management Social Systems Interventions & Development Social Systems Interventions & Development is the core competence of CGC professionals to support their clients by making a difference in education and work related environments (preventatively and in crisis management) through networking, consultation and advocacy.
