Structuring the Opening 1. I am going to begin by Ving. 2. …, beginning with n.p. • Note: The differences between here and Part II Structuring the Presentation: • Here is to tell the audience something now. • Part II is to tell what will be told in the future (later).
Practice I • Choose your “opening” sentence. • Practice with a partner.
2. Enumeration(mp3.12) Listen to mp3.12 on pp. 110-116 Don’t read/look at the book in the beginning. Try to shadow the audio clip as much as you can.
Enumeration-Points to make 1. I have a few points tomake about n.p. 2. I’d like to make a couple of points now about n.p. 3. There are a number of points I’d like to make about n.p. 4. There are a number of n.p. two n.p.
Enumeration – consistency • We need to address two critical issues: first,n.p.; and secondn.p. • There are three main points to here: first, +clause;second, + clause; and third, + clause. • The first/second point is that +clause. • The first/secondn.p. is n.p.
Practice II • Choose your enumeration sentences. • Practice with a partner.
3. Transitioning to a new topic(mp3.13) Listen to mp3.13 on pp. 117-127 Don’t read/look at the book in the beginning. Try to shadow the audio clip as much as you can.
Transition - new topic • 1. 4. Transitioning to a more in-depth discussion(mp3.14) Listen to mp3.14 on pp. 128-129 Don’t read/look at the book in the beginning. Try to shadow the audio clip as much as you can.
Transition- in-depth discussion • Let’ look at n.p/+wh-clausein more detail/more carefully. • Let’s take for example n.p.|the way that +wh-clause. • Let’s take n.p. for example.
