HYBRID VEHICLE SAFETY • Various systems • Can be very high voltage (over 650 AC) • Must use the proper safety equipment • Read warning labels • High voltage wires are ORANGE
Safety PrecautionsAlways keep in mind that the high-voltage batteries for an HEV can produce sufficient voltage and current to severely injure or kill. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and use approved safety procedures when working around these batteries.
The high-voltage battery pack produces 244 volts and consists of 34 nickel metal hydride modules, each of which contains six 1.2-volt cells. The battery pack is located behind the rear passenger seat backs.
