Curators Exhibit By Kevin Hampton
Dogon Village http://www.greatbuildings.com/buildings/Dogon_Village.html
Dogon Village • It is a one of a kind showing of a true African building in Mali Africa it is made of all stuff that you can find in the wild and nature. Plus this building represents all the meaning and heart that the Africans put into there work. So it is a showing of using what is at hand and building a house of nothing but mud, earth and thatched roofs. So I have to say this is simply a style that we call African Vernacular. It is a tourist attraction now but it is the pride of the African people and much more then a tourist trap. The main reasons why I picked this is it shows what African buildings look like and what there houses are like. Plus we need an African building to be in this exhibit as a tribute to them and their history.
The Vatican http://www.terragalleria.com/europe/italy/vatican/vatican.all.html
The Vatican • It is home to the pope of the roman catholic church it is the base of the holy land for the catholic church. It has some beautiful art work on the inside but the most famous one of all is the world famous painting by Michael Angelo it is in one of the famous buildings linked to the Vatican. It is one of my top places to see before I die and I just thing it not as a holy land but gods holy land not just are. This place is just so beautiful that I feel there is power behind these worlds that none of us can understand and those are the mystery’s of god. This Place has some wonderful paintings and statues that it is a w0rk of art that needs a place in this exhibit. Ok as you can tell they are many reason why I choose this building from its art to its importance in the catholic world. The main reason why I choose this picture is due to the fact that it is a place I dream of visiting one day.
The Tag Mahal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taj_mahal
The Tag Mahal • Who would ever thought that this was built in memory of someone's wife but yet it was if you are wondering who it was a famous Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is the jewel of all Muslim art. It is just so nice looking with those domes and its white color that it just so well done you just got to stop and look. But one other thing is that it just aren't the same unless you see it the far side of the pond. So next time when you are in Agra, India go stop by and take a look at the emperors house and see the view for yourself. The two reasons why I added this into the exhibit is over its beauty and look. As well as how the building is so white and how it does not look best from up close but from across the pond it gives you the whole picture of the look and the domes.
Panama Canal http://www.photoatlas.com/pics02/pictures_of_panama_75.html
Panama Cannel • The Panama Cannel is a shipping cannel that saves you a long detour around south America and lets you cut the trip length in half. Plus the one thing that is so awesome about this is that it showed us that America has a partner ship with other countries and help save every shipping country a lot of money in shipping and cut like a week for traveling. So it is showing of peace and working together to solve a common problem and at the end of it everyone won in one way or another. This exhibit was added over how it was work of our government showing the care for the world by saving the whole world and the companies time and money on shipping. Also how large it is and that it is all man made from the ground up and how it is used by everyone.
Parthenon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parthenon
Parthenon • It is the most important surviving building of the Classical Greek period. It was built back in the year 432bc and is one of the last of its kind standing today. It is located in Greeks famous city Athens and has seen better days but still gives us some inside to the rich Greeks history. It can be visited but you can not touch or step into this building over bits old age. I just have to say this proves if a building is built right it can last ten thousand years and still many decades and centuries more ahead of this great Greek building. There are some major reasons why I added this one I think is cool is that it is something that goes back almost 2000 years and is not in one piece but still has a showing. It is seen in every tour guide if Greece and is a building that goes back to ancient Greece and the Greek gods.
That’s all Folk Stay tuned for part 4 that will be coming next week.
