  2. Geologic Time Period Neoproterozoic – Early Cambrian. This is the period of transition from the Precambrian to the Cambrian era. The study was based on sedimentary sequences in southern Australia.

  4. EDIACARA SEQUENCE • The Ediacaran sequence marks the “extinction” of the Ediacaran fauna (a soft bodied organism.

  5. URATANNA SEQUENCE • The Urtatanna sequence represents an environmental change in sea level depth. • The fluctuation of sabelliditids (worm-like critters) occurs.

  6. PARACHILNA SEQUENCE • The Parachilna sequence represents a further change in sea level. • This is the time period in which skeletogenous (hard bodied) critters exploded onto the scene.
