Amoeba • Discovered by August Johann Rosel von Rosenhof • Eukaryotic protozoan • Obtains food through phagocytosis • Single large tubular pseudopod at the anterior end • No permanent organelles or supporting structure • Contains one or more nuclei and a single vacuole • Reproduce asexually via mitosis and cytokinesis

  3. Practice • Practice science at least onceper week. • Memorize basic information early • Glossaries • Dates • Inventors/Inventions • Prize Winners • Units • Go over computation • Energy • Forces • Unit Conversions

Practice (cont.) • Where do I start in the content? • Start at the beginning • Can’t cover everything in a year • Have to rely on what they learnedin class • Keep stats during quick recall practice • Analyze the stats for trends • Devote time to weaknesses • Keep more stats • Choose materials to address those weaknesses • Give written assessments early • Analyze results by topic not just score

Practice (cont.) • “I went over this with you last month!!!” • I have said it too, but you have to goover it multiple times • Come back to the topic often • Write questions (especially students) • Start with glossary for basic clues • Look-up harder clues in upperlevel books or online • Encyclopedia Britannica • Write questions in your format • KAAC questions are pyramid style • Worksheet/Lightning Rounds • Make notes in an Academic Team notebook over misses • Study Guides • Quizzes
