How could FMD be intentionally introduced ???? • FMD on every continent except North America, Australia, Antarctica • Outbreaks occur frequently – England, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Taiwan, etc. • Infected animals awash in virus • Various media, nutrient broth will allow for virus survival in a test tube • Virus will survive in some cured meats for 1.5 years
