AMBER Alert History • In 1996, in Arlington, TX, 9-year-old Amber Hagerman was abducted and murdered.
AMBER Alert ProgramMission Statement The mission of the AMBER Alert program is to develop and coordinate the efforts of law enforcement, the media, and transportation in order to increase public participation in safely recovering abducted children through targeted education, increased communication, and effective sharing of resources.
AMBER Alert Program National Strategy Law enforcement, the media, transportation, and other partners working together to disseminate information to the public in response to the most serious child abduction cases. + +
AMBER Alert Program National Strategy cont’d • December 2001: 4 States had statewide plans • All 50 States now have statewide plans • Another 65 local and regional plans exist
Summary of 2006 AMBER Alert Study • In 2005, there were a total of 338 children involved in 275 AMBER Alerts cases within the U.S. • Thirteen (13) children were recovered deceased • As of April 24, 2006, when the data was gathered for this study, three children in two AMBER Alert cases remain missing
Successful AMBER Alert Recoveries • A successful AMBER Alert recovery is one in which the child(ren) is safely recovered as a direct result of the AMBER Alert • Of the 275 AMBER Alert cases in 2005, 60 children were successfully recovered because of AMBER Alerts

ICAC Program Mission Statement The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program helps state and local law enforcement agencies develop an effective response to cyber enticement and child pornography cases. This help encompasses forensic and investigative components, training and technical assistance, victim services, and community education.
