National Survey on Children’s Exposure to Violence Of the children surveyed: • more than 60 percent were exposed to violence within the past year, either directly or indirectly • nearly one-half were assaulted at least once in the past year • more than 1 in 10 were injured in an assault • one in 16 were victimized sexually
children exposed to violence • On March 31, OJJDP released the solicitation “Attorney General’s Children Exposed to Violence Demonstration Program: Phase I.” • Supports community planning to prevent and reduce the impact of children’s exposure to violence in their homes, schools, and communities. • OJJDP, the Office for Victims of Crime, the Office on Violence Against Women, National Institute of Justice, Community Oriented Policing Services, and Executive Office of United States Attorneys jointly manage and support this project.
