The Ceryntian Hind Hercules third labor By: Sophie
The Task • The The CeryntianHind was a sacred animal of Artemis. It was, essentially, a doe with golden horns and bronze hooves. • Hercules third labour was to capture the The CeryntianHind, and was set by King Eurystheus so as to anger Artemis. • Hercules hunted the hind for a year, since he could do it harm he needed to outsmart it.
The Task cont’d… • Around the year-mark since he started the hunt he noticed something while he rested–the hind slowed down quite a bit when it saw he had stopped. So Hercules quietly chased her and was able to capture her when she fell asleep. • Artemis was very angry when she found out about his capturing of her sacred animal but Hercules dodged her wrath by blaming his taskmaster Eurystheus.
