Silence- a Step Towards Mindfulness A wandering mind and mindfulness are two opposite terms. Stress, hectic lifestyle, etc. lead to wandering minds. Silence is the key to everything you want to achieve. By keeping silent you can do wonders. Hence, you can become more productive with your everyday lives. These days we as humans are totally disconnected from our true selves. SILENCE It is very important to practice silence. Everybody in this world is lonely and need some to talk to. So they move out in search of people with whom they feel connected. But what we don’t realize is that we need to connect with ourselves first. The world runs behind peace. Everybody is tired of the noise. But we still can't live without the noise. Just because we have become so habitual of the noise that if one day we don’t hear some we start wondering if everything is alright. Silence is the only way to connect with ourselves. Nobody in this world can make you feel connected to yourselves. It is only you who does that. Talking too much will only lead to more stress. Therefore, it's important to keep silent. As it is said, silence is the biggest killer.
Silence is the absence of any kind of noise or sound from our ambiance. It is only hearing your own voice. As it is said, your inner voice never lies. But in this world of improvisation, most people are disconnected from themselves. They only hear what others say and not their own voice. The best way to practice silence is sitting alone for some time. Spending time with yourself rather than others. Silence retreat is the best way to find that inner peace back again. Which leads to a healthy mind and soul. MINDFULNESS Mindfulness refers to keeping aware of our thoughts, feelings, sensations, and our environment and our surroundings through the best of our lenses. Mindfulness also involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them—without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future. Mindfulness is acquired by silence. These are interconnected. When you practice silence you move a step towards mindfulness. In contrast, when we are in ordinary consciousness we have thousands of thoughts rushing around in our heads at any one time. The nature of these thoughts is such that we reference from our past experience and project what we think will happen into the future, bypassing the present moment entirely. The first step to mindfulness is dual awareness that is keeping a keen eye towards your experience and what you observe. By learning mindfulness and practicing regularly we can retrain our minds to remain more connected with ourselves and our experience and thus lead a happier, more fulfilling life. Be silent when you think you need to shout. Stop, think and then react to the situations you are not sure about. This will help you take another step towards silence and mindfulness.
