Charge to Parents 1. Do you recognize these children as the gifts of God and give heartfelt thanks for God's blessing? 2. Do you now dedicate your children to the Lord who gave them to you, surrendering all worldly claims upon their lives in the hope that they will belong wholly to Jesus Christ?
Charge to Parents 3. Do you pledge as parents that, with God's fatherly help, you will bring up your children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, making every reasonable effort, with patience and love, to build the Word of God, the character of Christ and the joy of the Lord into their lives?
Charge to Parents 4. Do you promise to provide, through God's blessing, for the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs of your children, looking to your own heavenly Father for the wisdom, love and strength to serve them?
Charge to Parents 5. Do you promise, God helping you, to make it your regular prayer that by God's grace your children will come to trust in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of their sins and for the fulfillment of all His promises to them, even eternal life; and in this faith follow Jesus as Lord and obey his teachings?
Prayer of Dedication “Leah / Alexander, together with your parents who love you dearly and this people who care about the outcome of your faith, I dedicate you to God, surrendering you to Him in the hope that you will one day give your life to Christ and come to be in the family of God"
Congregational Prayer Father, we thank you for the lives now dedicated to your love and care. We pray that your mercies will follow these children all the days of their life. Bless these parents and help them to remain faithful to the commitments and promises made this day to You on behalf of their children.
Congregational Prayer Help each of us in this congregation to fulfill our responsibility to pray for these children and partner with their parents in providing the kind of environment that will bless them and lead them to meaningful faith in Jesus. We pray this in the name of the One who said, “Allow the little children to come unto me,” Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, Amen.
Psalm 23 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 23 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
