ENVS720 Space imaging Received impetus through RS from rockets (1891) Space RS began in rrnest in 1946 when small cameras were mounted on V-2 rockets Subsequently on ballistic missiles, manned spacecraft, but poor quality Meteorological satellites in 1960 (Television and Infrared Observation Satellite (TIROS-1)) Also US military space imaging reconnaissance program (Corona) was started in 1960 Afterwards, several aerial photographs were taken covering the globe i.e Apollo programme
