In Jeremiah 9:23, Jeremiah relays a message from God that applies very well today. 23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches.”

  3. 24 Mv baac oix zuqc bun bungx waac-maux nyei mienh hnangv naaiv bungx waac-maux, weic ninh mengh baeqc yaac hiuv duqv yie, se ZIOUV, yiem lungh ndiev ziepc zuoqv nyei hnamv mienh, zoux baengh fim, zoux horpc. Naaiv se ZIOUV gorngv nyei waac.” (Ye^le^mi 9:24) 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. Jeremiah 9:24 (KJV).

  4. Biux Mengh Waac Introduction I. Ye^le^mi jiex gorn zoux gong douc Tin-Hungh nyei waac yiem 627 Nd. Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet and for good reason.

  5. III. Ye^le^mi longc ziangh hoc camv nyei daux gaux tov Tin-Hungh siex cuotv I^saa^laa^en Mienh. Jeremiah spent much of his time pleading to God and asking him to spare the people of Israelites. IV. Ninh yaac heuc mienh camv goiv hnyouv guangc ninh mbuo nyei zuiz. He also tried to get the people to repent of their sins. V. The word "glory" means simply "to boast." Notice there are three things we are told not to boast in and then are told what we are to boast in.

  7. A. Maiv dungx ceng-hlo nyei jauv (Do not boast in): 1. Cong-mengh (Wisdom). 2. Henv maaih qaqv (Might). 3. Butv zoih (Riches). B. Ceng-hlo duqv nyei jauv ( Do boast in): 1. 8. I. Maiv dungx njang-laangc ganh. Do not Glory in: • Cong-Mengh: haih hoqc duqv wuonh zaang. • (Wisdom: applied knowledge). • 1. Mbuo maaih haaix nyungc cong-mengh haih beiv duqv Tin-Hungh nyei? (1 Ko^lin^to 1:20-21): “Wuov nyungc, ih jaax nyei cong-mengh mienh, hoqc hlang nyei mienh, caux nzuih mbiaangc nyei mienh hnangv haaix nor? Tin-Hungh zoux bun naaiv baamh gen nyei cong-mengh hngongx mi'aqv.” • What is our wisdom compared to God's? (1 Corinthians 1:20-21). “Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

  9. 21 Tin-Hungh longc ninh ganh nyei cong-mengh bun mienh maiv haih kaux ninh mbuo ganh nyei cong-mengh hiuv duqv ninh. Daaux nzuonx, Tin-Hungh a'hneiv longc dongh mienh funx hngongx nyei zunh doz waac, njoux sienx ninh nyei mienh. 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.” (NIV)

  10. 2. Cong-mengh se benx longx nyei jauv (Cong-Mengh Waac 1:7). “Mienh hngongx mienh mangc piex cong-mengh. Dongh gamh nziex Tin-Hungh nyei mienh se jiex gorn maaih wuonh zaang aqv: mv baac mienh hngongx mienh mangc piex cong-mengh nyei jauv.” Wisdom can be a good thing ( Proverbs 1:7) Fools despise wisdom. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

  11. 3. Mbuo horpc zuqc lorz cong-mengh (Cong-Mengh Waac 4:5-9). “Oix zuqc duqv cong-mengh, oix zuqc mengh baeqc, maiv dungx la'kuqv yaac maiv dungx leih guangc yie nyei nzuih gorngv nyei waac. 6 Maiv dungx guangc cong-mengh, cong-mengh ziouc haih beu jienv meih. Oix zuqc hnamv ninh, ninh ziouc goux jienv meih.” We are to get wisdom (Proverbs 4:5-9). “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.”

  12. 7 Cong-mengh nyei gorn se hnangv naaiv. Oix zuqc duqv cong-mengh, yaac maiv gunv meih aengx duqv haaix nyungc, oix zuqc duqv haih mengh baeqc nyei jauv. 8 Oix zuqc taaih cong-mengh weih jaaix, ninh ziouc ceng meih. 13. 4. Mbuo oix zuqc longc cong-mengh nyei hnyouv (Singx Nzung 90:12) “Tov njaaux yie mbuo saauv ganh nyei hnoi-nyieqc, weic bun yie mbuo haih maaih cong-mengh nyei hnyouv. We are to apply our hearts to wisdom (Psalm 90:12). So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”  (KJV)

  14. 5. Mbuo oix zuqc hnangv cong-mengh mienh nor yiem (E^fe^so 5:15-16). “Hnangv naaic, meih mbuo yiem seix zaangc oix zuqc faix fim meih mbuo hnangv haaix nor yiem. Maiv dungx hnangv mienh hngongx mienh, oix zuqc hnangv cong-mengh nyei mienh wuov nor. 16 Oix zuqc longc duqv horpc ziangh hoc, weic zuqc ih zanc nyei nyutc zeiv se orqv haic.” We are to walk as wise (Ephesians 5:15-16). “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (NIV)

Nebuchadnezzar was a man who boasted in his might (Daniel 4:30) He said, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? (KJV)

  19. b. Ndaawitv yaac fih hnangv nyei dorngc dongh ninh saauv I^saa^laa^en Mienh houz wuov. David when he numbered Israel (2 Samuel 24). Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Romans 13:1 (KJV)

  20. II. Butv Zoih Yiem Jaa-dingh Nyei Jauv (Riches: material wealth) 1. Mbuo maaih haaix zinh zoih haih beiv duqv Tin-Hungh nyei? 22. 8 Tin-Hungh haih ceix nyungc-nyungc en camv-camv nyei bun meih mbuo. 23. c. Nziex meih funx gorngv zinh nyaanh benx da’yietv nyungc bun meih mv bei. You make obtaining wealth your number one priority (Luke 12:22-31). d. Wealth is dangerous (Matthew 19:23-24). “Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." (NIV)

  24. e. Butv zoih yiem hnamv dorngc nyei jauv (Lugaa 12:16-21). “Yesu ziouc gorngv naaiv diuh waac-beiv mbuox ninh mbuo. " Rich in wrong motive (Luke 12:16-21). “And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop.17 He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'18 "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.”

  25. 19 Ninh aengx hnamv daaih, 'Aa, yie maengc longx haic aqv. Nyungc-nyungc longx nyei ga'naaiv yie maaih gaux nyanc gaux hopv ziex hnyangx. Ei Tin-Hungh mangc, ninh se mienh jomc mienh.” 19 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'21 "This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."

  26. 4. Nzutv norz taux naaiv ginc waac (Conclusion to this section): Proverbs 16:18). “Zoux maux nyei jauv dorh mienh mingh zuqc mietc, hnyouv ceng-hlo bun mienh zuqc ndorpc.” Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” (KJV)
