Background Information • His crooked nose and alleged ADD and dyslexia, he did not fit in and was tutored at home instead • He taught himself piano at age 12 and that was his intended profession • Natures beauty at Yosemite sparked his love for photography • Best known for his black and white photos of the American West • Developed the zone system- a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of final prints
