Present tense verbs have a three branch translation. • Yocomo = I eat / I do eat / I am eating • Túhablas = You speak / you do speak /you are speaking • Ella escribe = she writes / she does write / she does write
NEW INFORMATION!! The preterite: a past tense
The preterite is used for actions in the past that are completed. It often translates as a verb ending in -ed English examples: • I walked to the store yesterday. • You went to Michael’s house last night.
For preterite conjugations, you will still remove the –ar, -er or –ir. You will then add the following endings: • For –ar verbs : • é -amos • aste XXXXXX • ó -aron • For –er/ir verbs : • í -imos • iste XXXXXX • ió -ieron
