  1. RUHS Band and Dance Guard Parent Informational Meeting

Introduction • The RUHS Band and Dance Guard Program succeeds based on the talented directors, advisors, and students and the necessary funding to support the various competitions and performances. • The Boosters support the Program through coordinating and facilitating events, contributing financially, communicating, and soliciting volunteers to assist with events throughout the year.

School Requirement • Marching Band and Guard are considered a sport and require registration on Athletic Website - Please complete by August 13 • http://ca.8to18.com/RedondoUnion/ • Select “Registration” Tab • Complete Required Consent Forms • Required Sports Physical prior to start of school • Pay Transportation Amount (Bus Fee) • Covers the cost for the students to attend field competitions and other music/dance competitions • Separate amount for Fall and Winter/Spring – must be paid online • Payment Questions: Contact Athletics Secretary Lynn Flanagan • Students will not be allowed to participate until registration and athletic clearance is completed.

Competitions /Games/Performances • Fall Season • Field Competitions (usually Saturdays) • Football Games (Friday – Call time 4:30/5:00pm) • Concerts/Performances • Parades • Winter/Spring Season • Competitions/Festivals (Varies based on group/band) • Basketball Games • Concerts/Performances • Parades • See separate schedule for dates & always check on website – dates may be subject to change based on availability

Competitions/Games/Performances 2018 Field Show Competitions • September 22 Ramona High Exhibition Show(CSBC) • September 29 West High (SCSBOA) • October 13 Gahr High Invitational (CSBC) • October 20 Circle City Tournament (CSBC) • October 30 (Tuesday) Colony Field Tournament (CSBC) • November 3*** Hart Rampage *** (SCSBOA) MAYBE • November 10 Semi-Finals (CSBC) • November 17 Championships (CSBC) • First home football game is August 24 May be subject to change based on availability

Class Schedule and Practice • School Year (Marching Band & Dance Guard Season) Zero Period (Mon-Fri) FIELD 6:55-7:45AM Tuesday 6:00-9:15PM* Wednesday 3:30-6:15PM* Thursday 3:15-5:30PM* *Subject to change • Wind Ensemble will practice Mondays from 3:15-5:30PM • Additional practices will be announced as dates for performances approach • Rehearsathon dates August 25 TBD rest of season

Support • Watch - Come see your student perform at performances, competitions, and school games • Donate - Waters, Snacks, your talents (photography, video, marketing/promotion of activities) • Volunteer – we are requiring each family to provide a minimum of 10 hours. • Competitions • Football Games • Events

Program Funding • Majority of Program Funding is through Booster Member Support • Keep the Award Winning Program Funded through your Fair Share contribution • Amount Paid may be tax deductible • Certain Fundraising Efforts can offset Fair Share Contribution • School Instrument Program • Purchase new instruments • Repair instruments

Program Funding What Program Costs does Fair Share Contribution Cover? • Fall Field Show Season $525/Student • Field Show Music and Choreography 6,000 • Specialized Instructors 40,200 • Competition Fees 2,650 • Field Equipment and Props 7,500 • Competition Meals/Snacks 4,500 • Transportation Costs 5,600 Total Fall Field Show Budget $68,800 • Instruction by Band Director are paid through the school
