  2. Geography / Climate • The Caribbean region is comprised of more than 7,000 islands, islets, reefs and cays • The climate is tropical and includes year-round sunshine

The Salvation Army Caribbean Territory • Countries included in the Territory: Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, French Guiana, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turks and Caicos. • Gospel is preached in Creole, Dutch, English, French, Surinamese

  4. The Salvation Army Caribbean Territory There are 129 corps (centers for worship and service) with a total of • Officers (pastors): 311 • Sr. Soldiers (adult members): 10,052 • Jr. Soldiers (members age 7-13): 3,247

  5. How is The Salvation Army ministering? • Community Centers • Feeding Centers • Prison Ministry • Medical Work • Day Cares • Schools • Ministry to Blind Individuals • Women’s Homes and Shelters

  6. Interesting Facts • Over 20 different nations make up the Caribbean region, though some are colonies or territories of other nations. • Tourism is a key element of the economy in many of the Caribbean nations. • Most children in the Caribbean wear uniforms to school.

  7. Strengths • There is great cultural expression and freedom in their worship. • The human resources are another strength they have in the territory. • The officers and soldiers have great pride in the Salvation Army uniform. • While many officers in the territory have more than one appointment, they are able to adapt and adjust in order to minister effectively.

  8. Challenges • Finances are needed to keep Salvation Army programs running. • More officers are needed throughout the territory. • There is a need for adequate transportation to/from Army facilities. • There is a lack of equipment for ministry, such as instruments and music.

How does my World Services gift help? • IT Upgrades in the Belize Region All officers in Belize now have access to file sharing, Lotus Notes email and QuickBooks accounting. • Vehicle for the new corps in the Turks and Caicos Islands The van will be used to transport participants to Sunday and mid-week worship services and programs.
