Repeat Purchases and a Fish and Chip Shop: Why Do People use a Fish and Chip Shop again and again? Nice friendly service – this makes people feel welcome and gains their trust in terms of quality of their food which is obviously very important for sales and repeat purchases. Range of products (a 4P!!!) - Not everyone in the family will want the same food, by selling different varieties, a family is more likely to shop their as one journey will please everyone – it is easier for dad!
Repeat Purchases and a Fish and Chip Shop: Price (a 4P!)– there is a limit to price and what people see as good value for money. My fish and chip shop offers meal deals for £3.30 (a form of promotion another P), this saves me 30 pence and makes me feel I am getting a good deal, it gives added value to their product for me; I am probably more inclined to go there and repeat purchase. mention the pricing strategies used! Repeat Purchases and a Fish and Chip Shop: Location / place(one of the 4P’s!) – if I was going to have cold fish and chips by the time I got home, I would not use that shop! Location is obviously important in the purchase decision. But is it important to repeat purchases in this case ? No, not really because you could argue that because it is too far away it would never really be considered as a potential shop for repeat purchases. It is good to show this type of analysis as it shows a deeper understanding.
Repeat Purchases and a Fish and Chip Shop: Competition: How close are they? What is their product range like? Do they offer promotions? Are their prices similar? Is price really important to repeat purchases? Is the quality of their food similar? Ask people – primary research? You need to do research and visit the shop, observe and ask people their opinions.
Tying it all together: Coming to a conclusion... COMPARE AND CONTRAST! Now you need to decide which one is the most important – you need to give reasons and argue your point. For example, product range is not as important as price because their is a competitor very close and they are competing on price to gain more sales. The quality is higher than their main competitor and they have an adequate product range. They charge a similar price and they are able to compete and obtain repeat purchases through superior quality. Indeed my research in appendix 1 shows that product range was not as important as price. Tying it all together: Coming to a conclusion... You Need To: Use your research to prove things – do not just opinion. Compare the issues relating too repeat purchases and decide on a most important one – you must argue your case! Proof Read your work twice. ANSWER THE QUESTION!!!
