  3. Terms • Booting – the process of starting the computer and loading the OS into main memory • Rebooting – What you do 10 minutes later on an older Windows machine • Multitasking – In a computer context, working with more than one program at once

Terms • Formatting – Clearing and organizing the central storage table on a disk in order to allow it to receive information • Plug and play – the theoretical ability in Windows OSes to plug a device in and have it be recognized automatically • This sort of automatic hardware recognition works better in Macs – why?
