About Purdue SWE • Founded in 1956 • Oldest-continuous SWE section in the nation • One of the largest student organizations on campus! • Recognized nationally as one of the best sections in the country • Outstanding Collegiate Section • Professional Development Award • Boeing Multicultural Award • EXCELLENT alumni/corporate network

Expectations • Chair • ODC meeting every other Sunday and weekly office hour • Plan designated events (differs for each Chair) • Mandatory events (retreats, callouts, etc.) • Director • All chair expectations • Mandatory events (IAB, OD meeting) • Provide support and guidance for Chairs • Liaison between Officers and Chairs • Officer • All Chair and Director Expectations • Two additional hours of meetings • Directly oversee 1-2 Directorships • Liaison between Purdue and Regional/National SWE

Qualities of an ODC member • Willingness to learn how SWE functions so events are planned successfully • Self-motivation to organize successful events that cater to members’ needs • Ability to be flexible with changes that happen within SWE • Encouraging of other ODC members • Passion for SWE and furthering its mission

Application Process: OFFICERS • Submit Petition on Get Involved • Due Friday 3/11 • Officer Elections • Sunday, 3/27 @ 7pm in Civil 1144 • Power Point presentation, followed by Q&A • Candidate discussion prior to casting ballots • Interview for Director positions with new set of Officers on 4/2

  9. Application Process: DIRECTORS • Submit Petition on Get Involved • Due Friday 3/11 • Interview for Director positions with new set of Officers 4/2 • Find out interview results 4/2 • Attend OD Transition meeting 4/3 • Interview Chairs 4/9

  10. Application Process: CHAIRS • Submit Petition on Get Involved • Due Friday 3/25 • Interview for Chair positions with respective Directors 4/9 • Find out interview results 4/10 • Attend ODC Transition meeting 4/17 • Plan events for 2010-2011 academic year

Re-Applying for Positions • Officer candidates who are not elected to positions are strongly encouraged to reapply for a director or chair position. • Director candidates who do not receive a director position are strongly encouraged to reapply for a chair position. • Petitions will be reopened for only those candidates wanting to reapply for a position. [No time extension]
