Friday 1/21/11Learning Goals: SWBAT1. Present their semester one group review work (mind maps, Venn diagrams) and add to their review notes. 2. Summarize the guidelines for the mid-term take-home essay and explain how it is similar to an MCAS essay. Do Now: Agenda: Do Now 5 minutes to wrap up group work from yesterday! Groups present their work--- every one takes more review notes! Introduce essay! HW: Thesis statement and outline for essay! This is 10 percent of your mid-term grade! Contextualize the following quote from Q & A by providing 2-3 sentences of background information (what was happening at this point in the story) and explaining who was speaking, what they were talking about and who they were speaking to (if relevant): “The man twists his hand and points his gun at the baby’s face, but today the baby is blessed with super-human powers. With tiny fingers he pushes at the barrel of the gun, reversing its direction. Man and baby wrestle again, going left and right, rolling on the ground. They are locked in a death struggle” (p. 161).
